Interactive TV
Mandoforms and Interactive TV
The UK government has decided to completely replace analogue television
with digital television by the year 2010. These digital TVs have interactive
capabilities suitable for data capture using electronic forms. As such interactive
TV may become a major route for capturing information in the future.
Currently, there are a large number of differing digital television systems
available, each with it's own unique capabilities. Hence providing specific
support for the data capturing facilities on each platform would be a huge
undertaking.
At Mandoforms, we provide tools for building forms using a consistent user-friendly
interface. Currently, these forms can be delivered to Java capable browsers,
and HTML Forms capable browsers. As such Mandoforms can already work with the
many systems that already provide suitable browsers. For example the Bush Web
TV system, and freeview system (formerly ITV Digital and On Digital)
both provide compatible browsers today.
However, if you have a specific TV system you wish to target, we would be
happy to work with you to confirm that Mandoforms works with this system. In
addition, the new Mandoforms architecture, introduced in V3, allows us to easily
add support for specific delivery channels. So, if your preferred interactive
TV system would benefit from specific support within Mandoforms we would be
happy to work with you to investigate adding this.
