Mandoforms and Personal Devices

Many people see the future of Internet access as being through small personal devices, such as PDAs, mobile phones, MP3 players and digital cameras. Devices combining features from each of these are already available or being developed. Many of these devices are suitable for data capture using electronic forms, and as such they may become a major platforms for capturing information in the future.

Currently, there are a large number of such systems available, each with it's own unique capabilities, and more devices are being introduced every day. But standards in this area are fairly thin on the ground. Hence providing specific support for the data capturing facilities on each platform is a difficult task.

At Mandoforms, we provide tools for building forms using a consistent user-friendly interface. Currently, these forms can be delivered to Java capable browsers, and HTML Forms capable browsers. As such Mandoforms can already work with the many devices that provide suitable HTML Web browsers. We are also currently investigating adding support for WML browsers on those devices that support suitable display screens, and input facilities.

However, if you have a specific device you wish to target, we would be happy to work with you to confirm that Mandoforms works with this. In addition, the new Mandoforms architecture, introduced in V3, allows us to easily add support for new delivery channels. So, if your target device would benefit from specific support within Mandoforms we would be happy to work with you to investigate adding this.
