Products Overview

Mandoforms products

The Mandoforms product range consists of the core product and various extensions. Mandoforms products run on both Windows and UNIX systems:

  • Developer Kit

The Developer Kit contains everything you need to develop and test Mandoforms. It comprises a Builder Tool to help you create forms and a Test Server to serve the forms you create and process the data captured. The Builder Tool and Test Server are conveniently situated on the same PC so that you can develop and test your forms before transferring them to your staging server or live server.

  • Enterprise Server

The Enterprise Server typically runs on your Web server. The Enterprise Server is a licensed version of the Test Server. It supports the delivery of applet or HTML based Mandoforms, to browsers running on PCs, Workstations, PDAs, interactive TV, Kiosks etc. It also supports Mandoforms by populating the form with data where required, and passing on or processing the data received. It is packaged with a Developer Kit to provide a complete out-of-the-box solution.

  • Server Extensions

Incorporate additional security, database access and postcode lookups. Server extensions increase the functionality of the Mandoforms Enterprise Server without requiring any programming by the developer.

  • Distributed Mandoforms

Distributed Mandoforms extends the reach of Mandoforms to portable or standalone PCs and Kiosks, allowing Mandoforms to be run on disconnected systems.

Using the Mandoforms products

Building forms

A typical Mandoforms set up might require a number of Developer Kits for everyone involved in the process. The Developer Kit can be used by a team or an individual to:

  • Input the form questions
  • Design the form's look and feel
  • Apply form validation rules
  • Apply form navigation rules
  • Configure how the form interacts with the server (such as database lookups)
  • Configure how the form data is processed (such as database storage, send email, create PDF and so on)

Testing, deployment and managing data

Once the forms are defined, they are then uploaded to a staging server typically running both a Web Server (Apache, IIS) and the Mandoforms Enterprise Server.

The forms can then be reviewed in action to ensure that they work correctly with your website, look right and ask the right questions. The forms can also be tested to ensure that the user responses are captured and processed correctly.

The next step is to upload the forms to your live server for access by the appropriate users across the Internet, your company intranet or extranet.

For small installations you can use just one or two Developer Kits and a single live server to upload the forms to the Internet.
